To promote stem cell research and the practical application of regenerative medicine
We provide the highest quality stem cell resources and information.
The Korea National Stem Cell Bank (KSCB) was established in October 2012 as an infrastructure to support research using stem cells and the practical application of regenerative medicine, managing stem cell resources and research information with the goal of global standardization of stem cell regenerative medicine technologies.
At the KSCB, stem cell resources are secured through deposits or in-house development, and high-quality stem cell lines meeting international standards are cultured, stored, and distributed to researchers after analyzing the characteristics of each cell line, functioning as a central repository.
Additionally, we provide researchers with foundational data—including lineage, basic characteristics, and research information of stem cell lines—to support applied and clinical research using stem cells.
We actively participate in international collaborations for standardizing the characterization of induced pluripotent stem cells and developing guidelines for clinical application to ensure rapidly advancing stem cell research translates into practical use.
Currently, the KSCB is a registered repository for life research resources (stem cells) under the control of the Ministry of Health and Welfare. It secures and distributes quality-controlled human embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells, and provides diverse information to enhance the usability of the resources and technologies held by the bank.
