Terms of Use
The BioOne Integrated Platform for Biological Resources Terms of Use include the following provisions.
Article 1 (Purpose)
- These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) govern the rights, obligations, and responsibilities between the user and the BioOne Integrated Platform for Biological Resources System (Korean Bioresource Information System) (the “Platform”) in connection with the use of internet-related services (the “Services”) provided by the Platform.
- An applicant is deemed to have agreed to these Terms by completing the prescribed procedures determined by the Platform and clicking the “Confirm” button.
Article 2 (Definition of User)
- “User” means a person who receives the Services provided by this website in accordance with these Terms.
Article 3 (Membership Registration)
- A person who wishes to become a user applies for membership by completing the membership form prescribed by the Platform and clicking the “Confirm” button.
- The Platform registers the applicant as a member unless the applicant falls under any of the grounds specified by the Platform.
- A membership agreement is formed when the Platform’s acceptance reaches the applicant.
- If any change occurs in the information provided for membership registration, the member must promptly correct and update such information.
Article 4 (Provision and Changes of Services)
The Platform provides the following Services to users:
- Integrated Search-related services
- Biodiversity-related services
- Biological Resource-related services
- Bioinformation-related services
- Statistics-related services
- Community-related services
- Any other services developed by the Platform or provided to members through cooperation agreements with other institutions
Article 5 (Suspension of Services)
- The Platform may temporarily suspend the provision of the Services due to maintenance, replacement, or failure of information and communications facilities such as computers, interruption of communications, or other similar reasons. The Platform may also permanently discontinue the Services currently provided if deemed appropriate, including replacement with new services.
- In the event of suspension under Paragraph 1, the Platform will announce the suspension date and reason on the website’s main page from at least seven (7) days prior to the suspension date until the suspension date. However, this does not apply where prior notice is not possible due to reasons beyond the Platform’s control (e.g., disk failure or system downtime without intent or negligence by the system administrator).
Article 6 (Withdrawal and Loss of Membership)
- A user may request cancellation of membership registration (membership withdrawal) at any time, and the Platform will promptly proceed with the procedures to cancel the user’s membership upon receipt of such request.

If a user falls under any of the following grounds, the Platform may restrict, suspend, or terminate the user’s membership by appropriate means:
- Applying using another person’s name or identity
- Falsely stating information in the membership application
- Applying for the purpose of undermining public order or morals
- Interfering with another person’s use of the Services or misappropriating information
- Using the website to engage in acts prohibited by applicable laws or these Terms
- Failing to meet the membership requirements set by the website
Article 7 (Notices to Users)
- Where the Platform provides notice to a specific user, it may do so via the email address provided at the time of membership registration.
- Where the Platform provides notice to unspecified users, posting such notice on the Platform’s bulletin board may substitute for individual notice.
Article 8 (Protection of Personal Information)
- The Platform endeavors to protect users’ personal information, including registration information, in accordance with applicable laws. Matters concerning the protection of personal information are governed by applicable laws and the Privacy Policy established by the Platform.
Article 9 (Obligations of the Platform)
- The Platform will not engage in acts prohibited by applicable laws or these Terms, or acts contrary to public order and morals, and will endeavor to provide the Services continuously and stably in accordance with these Terms.
- The Platform will establish security systems to protect users’ personal information (including credit information) so that users can safely use the internet services.
- The Platform will not send unsolicited commercial advertising emails against the user’s intention.
Article 10 (Obligations Regarding User ID and Password)
- Except where the Platform is liable under applicable laws or the Privacy Policy, each user is responsible for managing their own ID and password.
- Users must not allow third parties to use their ID or password.
- If a user becomes aware that their ID and password have been stolen or are being used by a third party, the user must immediately notify the Platform and follow the Platform’s instructions, if any.
Article 11 (User Obligations)

Users must not engage in any of the following acts:
- Registering false information when applying for membership or changing member information
- Altering information posted on the Platform
- Infringing the personal rights or intellectual property rights of the Platform or any third party, or interfering with business operations
- Impersonating or misusing another member’s ID
- Sending junk mail, spam, chain letters, emails encouraging participation in pyramid schemes, or transmitting obscene or violent messages, images, or sounds, or otherwise disclosing or posting information contrary to public order and morals
- Transmitting or posting information prohibited from transmission or posting under applicable laws (including computer programs)
- Posting content or sending emails under another person’s name
- Posting materials that contain software viruses or other computer code, files, or programs designed to disrupt or damage the normal operation of computer software, hardware, or telecommunications equipment, or sending such materials via email
- Harassing other users through stalking or similar conduct
- Collecting, storing, or disclosing another user’s personal information without consent
- If a user engages in any act under Paragraph 1, the Platform may restrict, suspend, or terminate the user’s membership by appropriate means.
- Users are liable to compensate for damages incurred by the Platform or other users due to reasons attributable to the user.
Article 12 (Deletion of Public Posts)
If the content of a user’s public post falls under any of the following, the Platform may delete the post without prior notice and may restrict, suspend, or terminate the user’s membership:
- Content that defames or damages the reputation of another user or a third party
- Content that disseminates information, text, or images contrary to public order and morals
- Content deemed to be related to criminal activity
- Content that infringes copyrights or other rights of another user or a third party
- Content otherwise deemed to violate applicable laws
Article 13 (Ownership of Copyright and Restrictions on Use)
- Copyright and other intellectual property rights in works created by the Platform belong to the Platform.
- Users must not reproduce, transmit, publish, distribute, broadcast, or otherwise use information obtained through the Platform for commercial purposes, or allow third parties to use such information, without the Platform’s prior consent.
Article 14 (Jurisdiction)
- Korean law applies to disputes arising between the Platform and users regarding the use of the Services, and any lawsuit arising from such dispute shall be brought before a court in the Republic of Korea having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act.
